Reading is Fundamental!

Host a Read Aloud night with family and friends!

At P.S./M.S. 183Q your child is receiving the highest level of reading instruction on the Rockaway Peninsula! Day in and day out; our students are reading and being read to in an effort to build knowledge over many topics. Do you know that knowledge is like Velcro?  It actually sticks to other related knowledge.

We challenge you to catch your child reading all through the month of November to remind your child how much fun it is to read and build knowledge!  Is your child a reluctant reader or experiencing reading difficulties? Keep stoking the flames of knowledge with a great audiobook.

Great news!  Thousands of laugh out loud, intriguing, creepy, captivating tales are ready to be read or heard by NYCDOE students for free on SORA. Sora provides the quickest and easiest way to read digital books. NYC students can learn how to log in using their school credentials and instantly access hundreds of eBooks and audiobooks on virtually any device. Scroll up on this page and click on the Sora logo to log in and get started.
